Pune: Following the recent vehicle vandalism incident in Bibwewadi, similar cases have emerged in Yerawada and Faraskhana in the early hours of Thursday (February 6). A retaliatory attack over a prior altercation resulted in a gang vandalizing multiple vehicles, leading to the arrest of six individuals and the detention of a minor.

The attack took place in Kagadipura, where an auto-rickshaw and four two-wheelers were deliberately damaged. This act of vandalism stemmed from an assault that occurred four days earlier when an individual was beaten. In response, a group of attackers targeted the victim’s vehicles.

The complaint was filed by Yasin Imtiyaz Shaikh (29), a resident of Kagadipura, Kasba Peth, at the Faraskhana police station. Acting on his report, the police arrested six suspects:

  • Mayur Ganesh Adagal (18) – Resident of PMC Colony, Kasba Peth

  • Manthan Prakash Sakat (19) – Resident of PMC Colony

  • Ayan Akhtar Shaikh (20)

  • Om Devidas Shinde (20) – Resident of Mangalwar Peth

  • Aryan Sandeep Waghmare (20) – Resident of PMC Colony, Kasba Peth

  • Sahil Qureshi (21)

Additionally, a minor involved in the crime has been taken into custody.

  • Mayur Adagal has two prior cases registered against him at the Faraskhana police station for inciting mobs and assault.

  • Ayan Shaikh has a case filed under the Arms Act.

  • Sahil Qureshi has multiple cases related to abduction, POCSO, attempted murder, and robbery preparation at various police stations, including Faraskhana, Samarth, and Khadak.

According to the police investigation, complainant Yasin Shaikh, an auto-rickshaw driver, was sleeping at home when three motorcycles arrived carrying the attackers. They used machetes and stones to damage his rickshaw and five motorcycles parked nearby. The assailants then fled the scene.

Upon receiving the alert, the Faraskhana police swiftly responded and apprehended Mayur Adagal. During interrogation, Adagal confessed that four days earlier, Ayan Shaikh had been assaulted in front of the PMC building in Kasba Peth by Jahid Tajuddin Qureshi and others.

Since no formal police complaint had been filed, the accused decided to retaliate by vandalizing vehicles belonging to:

  • Jahid Qureshi

  • Jamil Qureshi (Yamaha motorcycle)

  • Tajuddin Qureshi (Jawa motorcycle)

  • Imran Qureshi (Honda Activa)

  • Aqeeb Qureshi (Honda Activa)

The accused used machetes and stones to cause significant damage before escaping.
