Pune: Residents in several parts of Pune, including Warje, Kothrud, Baner, Balewadi, Aundh, Shivajinagar, Khadki, and Karvenagar, may experience water supply disruptions on Sunday (March 23) due to emergency repairs on a major pipeline that burst in Warje.
The incident occurred on Saturday when the Pune Municipal Corporation’s (PMC) sewage department was conducting excavation work in Warje to lay a new sewer line.
During the process, heavy machinery accidentally damaged the main water pipeline that supplies water from Khadakwasla to Warje. The breakage resulted in a significant loss of water, prompting immediate action by PMC officials.
Upon discovering the damage, the PMC’s water supply department launched emergency repair work on Saturday night. The repairs are expected to continue until Sunday morning, leading to a temporary shutdown of Phase 2 of the water supply system.
As a result, water supply in Warje, Kothrud, Baner, Balewadi, Aundh, Shivajinagar, Khadki, and Karvenagar is likely to be affected throughout Sunday. The PMC has urged residents to use water judiciously and make necessary arrangements in advance.
Officials have assured that all efforts are being made to complete the repairs at the earliest and restore normal water supply.
