Pune: A woman residing in the Warje area reported a theft in which ₹23,000 cash was stolen from her while she was still inside a bank. The incident occurred in the Kakade City area, and a case has been registered at the Warje Malwadi Police Station.
The woman had visited the bank two days ago to withdraw ₹2 lakh from her husband’s account for personal work. After the withdrawal, she sat on a chair inside the bank to count the cash. A man seated nearby attempted to engage her in conversation.
Taking advantage of her distraction, the man discreetly stole ₹23,000 from the bundle of notes she had placed in front of her. By the time the woman realized the theft, the thief had already fled the scene.
Upon learning of the incident, Senior Police Inspector Manoj Shedge visited the bank to inspect the premises and gather details. Police Sub-Inspector Sachin Tarde has initiated an investigation into the theft, and efforts are underway to identify and apprehend the suspect.
Recently, a security guard at Karad Urban Bank in the Market Yard area had thwarted an attempted robbery when a minor threatened him with a knife and demanded money. The incident occurred late Thursday (December 12) night.
The minor had entered the bank premises at midnight and brandished a knife, threatening to kill him if he did not hand over money. Gaikwad resisted, forcing the accused to flee.
