Woman and Her Accomplice Nabbed in Pune for Husband’s Murder in Rajasthan

The arrested individuals have been identified as Sukhidevi Kamlesh Mewad (30) and Ashok Kaluram Rathod (25), both residents of Sojat City.

Pune: The Bund Garden Police arrested a woman and her accomplice near Pune Railway Station for allegedly murdering her husband in Rajasthan before fleeing to Maharashtra. The crime, which took place in Sojat City, Pali district, Rajasthan, had been under investigation by the local police there.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Sukhidevi Kamlesh Mewad (30) and Ashok Kaluram Rathod (25), both residents of Sojat City. The victim, Kamlesh Jetharam Mewad (32), was found dead in a field on February 20.

Following a complaint lodged by Kamlesh’s father, Jetharam Mewad, the Sojat City Police launched an investigation and found that his wife, Sukhidevi, and her friend Ashok were responsible for the murder. After committing the crime, the duo fled Rajasthan and reached Pune in an attempt to evade arrest.

The Bund Garden Police received intelligence that the suspects were in the Pune Railway Station area and set up a trap to capture them. Both accused were taken into custody without resistance.

The operation was led by Additional Commissioner Praveen Kumar Patil, Deputy Commissioner Smarthana Patil, and Assistant Commissioner Deepak Nikam.

The team executing the arrest included Senior Police Inspector Ravindra Gaikwad, Police Sub-Inspector Swapnil Lohar, Pradeep Shitole, Saras Salvi, Dnyaneshwar Gaikwad, and Dnyaneshwar Bade. Police are now coordinating with their counterparts in Rajasthan for further legal proceedings.
