Adar Poonawalla receives special recognition award

Pune: Adar Poonawalla, Chief Executive Officer of Serum Institute of India, received a ‘special recognition award’ at the Rotary CSR Awards for his philanthropic initiatives and community-led programme, Adar Poonawalla Clean City Initiative (APCCI). 

The award was presented to Poonawalla by MP Girish Bapat on June 14.

Led by Poonawalla, APCCI has been working towards spreading awareness on the benefits of a clean city with awareness-building activities and clean-up drives with the help of citizens and volunteers. 

Commenting on the award, Poonawalla said, “I am extremely humbled to have received such a prestigious award among the outstanding leaders within the industry. APCCI 
was initiated with an unwavering focus to sensitise people towards advocating the conservation of our environment by being responsible citizens of the country.”

“I feel elated on witnessing the increased participation by leading institutions and governmental bodies and am proud on APCCI’s commitment towards paving the road for social reform,” added Poonawalla.
