Pune, 6th July 2026: As preparations continue for the ceremonial departure of the Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj Palkhi from Alandi on July 8, 2026, heavy rainfall and rising floodwaters have created a difficult situation in the pilgrimage town. Authorities have appealed to devotees and Warkaris to postpone their visit until conditions become safe.
The Indrayani River has overflowed following continuous rainfall and the release of water from dams in the Maval region. Floodwaters have submerged both river ghats, entered houses along the riverbank, and inundated several dharamshalas and Warkari institutions in Alandi.
Temple authorities said all four bridges connecting Alandi have gone under water, making access to the town unsafe. In view of the situation, the Alandi Devasthan has requested all devotees, Warkaris and visitors planning to attend the Ashadhi Wari Palkhi departure ceremony to avoid travelling to the town until further notice.
Those who have already started their journey towards Alandi have been advised to stop at a safe location instead of continuing their travel. Devotees have also been urged to strictly follow instructions issued by the municipal administration, police and disaster management authorities.
The Alandi Devasthan further appealed to people not to believe rumours or venture near the flooded river, ghats or submerged bridges. Authorities said all necessary safety measures are being taken and requested citizens to remain patient and cooperate with the administration until the flood situation improves.
