Christ College, DATRI To Raise Blood Stem Cell Awareness

ST CORRESPONDENT

Pune: Christ College, Pune, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) earlier this month with DATRI Blood Stem Cell Donors Registry, a non-profit non-governmental organisation involved in facilitating blood stem cell transplant for people with severe blood disorders like leukaemia and thalassemia.

During the first awareness session in college, around 107 students registered for the cause.

Stem cells are often hailed as a miracle cure of the future and need proper awareness and right information that can benefit both, the donor and the recipient.

Christ College, Pune Director Dr (Fr) Sony Chundattu CMI said that association with DATRI will promote social awareness among the students  and this initiative will create committed youth for the future socio-economic reconstruction of the society and nation at large.

DATRI Director Aby Sam John was happy that a college in Pune has come forward for the first time for spreading awareness about blood stem cell donation.
