Construction Site Tragedy in Pune Camp Area: One Worker Dead, Four Injured

Locals demand action against builder and PCB officials for alleged negligence; previous fatality at same site comes to light

Pune, 1st July 2025: A tragic incident occurred at an under-construction site near the old Oasis Hotel on Sachapir Street, Camp, where one young worker died on the spot and four others sustained serious injuries. The accident took place at Building No. 495/496, raising serious concerns about worker safety and site management.

Following the incident, there is growing public outrage with demands to file culpable homicide charges against the builders, Ranawat and Mehta, as well as concerned officials from the Pune Cantonment Board (PCB). Local residents and labour rights activists have condemned the negligence, highlighting the absence of basic safety precautions at the site.

Shockingly, activists have alleged that a similar fatal incident had occurred at the same site some time ago but was reportedly covered up. Labour rights activists Naresh Pushpavati Indrasen Jadhav and Dinesh Pardeshi brought the matter to light, calling for accountability.

Congress youth leader Vaishnavi Kirad rushed to the spot upon learning of the incident. After inspecting the scene, she informed PCB officials Mr. Patil and Mr. Sable about the situation, demanding immediate intervention.

Political and social activists have strongly urged a thorough investigation into the matter. They are demanding that those responsible, including the builder and PCB authorities, be booked under appropriate legal sections and face strict action for endangering workers’ lives.
