PUNE: Differently-abled children from Bal Kalyan Sanstha learned about Indian classical dances and also enjoyed learning a few steps of Kathak as a part of the ‘Dance Season’.

The ‘Dance Season’ is an ongoing 10-day dance event in the city, organised on the occasion of World Dance Day that is being celebrated on April 29.

Shastriya Nritya Samvardhan Sanstha, a group of classical dancers from Pune, is undertaking the mega event ‘Dance Season’ at different locations in Pune. As a part of this event marking the World Dance Day, a dance and drama workshop named ‘Together In Sync’ was conducted by dancer Shilpa Datar.

At the workshop, the differently-abled students were introduced to Kathak. The children watched some dance-related videos and enjoyed different theatre games and interactive sessions.

Datar said, “Our purpose is to help these children gain confidence and express their creativity. Dance serves as a very good medium for that. Also, they will get joy above all. The initiative will be conducted all year round at Bal Kalyan Sanstha which will include workshops on different dance forms.”

Veteran Kathak dancer Maneesha Sathe, Bal Kalyan Sanstha Director Aparna Panse, music teachers Dattatray Bhave and Geetaram Darade were also present at the inauguration of the workshop.
