DY Patil accepts NCP membership

ST CORRESPONDENT

PUNE: Former Bihar governor and senior Congress leader DY Patil on Sunday formally become a Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) member. Soon, he will announce his entry into NCP in the presence of Nationalist Congress Party chief Sharad Pawar.

Patil’s move to join the NCP has given a new turn of events in Kolhapur, where his son and former State home minister Satej Patil is a Congress MLA while NCP’s MP Dhananjay Mahadik is Satej’s fierce opponent.

Dhananjay Mahadik had campaigned for Satej Patil’s cousin Amol Mahadik during 2014 Lok Sabha elections. This resulted in the defeat of Satej in the elections.

Now, with DY Patil’s move, the entire State is looking forward to the political turn of events.
