Pune, 28 June 2025: In a meeting at Van Bhavan, Pune, on June 27 between Maharashtra’s Forest Minister Ganesh Naik and Vadgaonsheri MLA Bapu Pathare, where long-pending development proposals were discussed and received immediate administrative clearance. The meeting marks a significant step forward in addressing the water, road, and environmental needs of the Vadgaonsheri constituency.
One of the key highlights was the long-delayed Lohgaon water supply project. MLA Pathare urged the Forest Department to hand over 0.9759 hectares of land at Survey No. 304, located behind D.Y. Patil College in Lohgaon, for the construction of 1 Main Balancing Reservoir (MBR), 1 sump well, and 2 water tanks.
Although the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) had already submitted detailed proposals and completed joint inspections, the land transfer had been pending, worsening water shortages in Lohgaon.
Responding positively, Forest Minister Ganesh Naik ordered officials to immediately transfer the required land to the PMC. According to MLA Pathare, this move could resolve nearly 50% of Lohgaon's ongoing water crisis permanently.
In addition to the water project, several other proposals from MLA Pathare were approved in principle:
Development of a high-quality forest park on forest land in Mouje Nirgudi and Vadgaon Shinde.
Realignment of the Lohgaon–Nirgudi road to the western boundary of Charholi and Nirgudi, to prevent obstruction through forest limits.
Allocation of 0.384 hectares of forest land at Survey No. 57 for road development on the Kharadi–Shivne route.
These decisions are expected to significantly ease road traffic, improve local water infrastructure, enhance environmental facilities, and boost connectivity in Vadgaonsheri.
Following the meeting, MLAs Bapusaheb Pathare and Mahesh Landge expressed their gratitude and felicitated Forest Minister Ganesh Naik for his swift action and support.
