Ganesh idol making workshop held at Kunjir Public School

ST CORRESPONDENT

PUNE: The Kunjir Public School, Manjari, recently organised an eco-friendly Ganesh idol making workshop at its premises. With an aim to protect the environment from the harmful materials used in making idols, the participants were taught to make idols from the mud.

While kneading the soil, the participants added plant seeds in it, so that once the idol is immersed, the mud and water will promote the growth of new saplings.

The school management informed that use of plaster of paris for making idols was damaging the environment by polluting natural resources like water and soil, so they decided to conduct this workshop to spread awareness.
