Glitches mar junior clerks exam

PUNE: A re-examination might take place for the recruitment of the junior clerks in Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Examination (MSBSHSE) as the Maha Pariksha Portal (MPP) through which the examination was supposed to take place on Monday developed technical glitches.

Sudden shutdown of the computers, power cuts and lack of power backup stalled the examination, spreading panic among the candidates, who had come from various parts of the district for the examination. The examination centre was Alard College of Engineering and Management in Hinjewadi. The candidates appearing for the examination protested and demanded a re-examination. Repeated shutdown of the computers during the exam hours and slow servers created problems while giving the examination.

Mahesh Ingole, who came for the examination at the centre, said, “I reported at the centre around 8:30 am. After the biometric verification, we were given our seat numbers and the examination started at 10 am, but we realised that computers in the examination hall were repeatedly shutting down. When complaints were made about it to the technical authority from the MPP, no one paid any heed,” said Ingole.

Satish Madane, another candidate, said, “After the exam started at 10 am, my computer shut down thrice. It happened with my colleague too. When we called the technical team from MPP, they said it was due to the power cut at the centre and the college authority did not provide any additional power backup”.

When Sakal Times contacted MPP authority, an official on the condition of anonymity said, “Server issue was the main problem. We cannot give extra time to the candidates, as the examination time was auto-generated by the portal. After a detailed discussion with the higher authorities, we conveyed to the candidates that a re-exam might take place.

Secretary of MSBSHSE, Pune, Ashok Bhosale, said, “Maha Pariksha portal is responsible for conducting the exam. Even our observer, who was present at the centre, reported the same thing that the students said, therefore we have asked a report from them,” said Bhosale.

Maha Pariksha Portal organised an exam for the post of Junior Clerk at the 11 different centres in the Pune district on December 2.
