Pune, 26 June 2025: As daily traffic snarls worsen in Hinjawadi during the monsoon, IT employees are increasingly demanding the option to work from home. Many companies have made it mandatory to attend office five days a week, while some offer hybrid work options. As a result, tech workers are forced to commute at least two days a week, getting stuck in traffic, losing time, and facing high stress levels.

Hinjawadi’s traffic situation deteriorates each monsoon due to poor roads, potholes, and lack of proper traffic management. Commuters regularly face long delays and minor accidents. Despite repeated complaints over the years, the issues remain unresolved and continue to worsen.

The Forum for IT Employees (FITE) has urged companies to allow work from home at least during the rainy season. They have highlighted how the lack of basic infrastructure forces thousands of employees to struggle just to reach work. However, neither the government nor IT companies have officially responded to the demand yet.

Meanwhile, the citizens' campaign to include Hinjawadi in the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) is gaining support. Local MLAs Mahesh Landge and Shankar Jagtap have backed the campaign on social media, stating that better civic services can only be achieved through PCMC.

Petitioner Sachin Londhe said over 20,000 citizens have supported the petition and the demand will soon be presented to the Chief Minister.

“Due to ongoing metro construction and damaged roads, employees face major hardships. Many use private cars for safety, which adds to congestion. We strongly demand work-from-home during the monsoon,” said Pawanjeet Mane, President of FITE.

“I understand the problems faced by Hinjawadi residents and IT employees. The civic condition is poor, and PCMC inclusion is the right solution. I will follow up with the authorities,” said MLA Shankar Jagtap.
