Pune: Kirloskar Vasundhara International Film Festival (KVIFF) will be held in Pune from January 4 to 8 next month at Balgandharva Rangamandir and Ghole Road Art Gallery. During the festival, many national and international films based on Environment, Wildlife, Energy, Air and Water will be showcased.
KVIFF is a joint initiative of Kirloskar and Vasundhara Club in association with Savitribai Phule Pune University and other 55 organisations along with 50 colleges. The theme for this year is 'River Pollution'. The organisers have shortlisted 155 films from 1,200 film entries from 28 countries. Entry passes will be made available on December 25 at three locations including Poornima Towers at Jagannath Shankarsheth Road, 'Prashant' opposite Garware College and at Rasika Apartment at Karve Road. In the backdrop of this festival, Eco-bazaar will be arranged to display and sell recycled and eco-friendly products.
Virendra Chitrav, Festival Director, said, “Through various workshops, seminars and panel discussions, the KVIFF aims at creating large scale awareness on the river polluting issue and how individual actions can decrease the problem. We are starting the film festival from Pune and then we will be going through 30 cities from seven states of India. Along with this, we are going to honour seven personalities or organisation for their significant contribution in the field of nature conservation. We will be felicitating Veteran Wildlife Conservationist Maruti Chitampalli with Kirloskar Vasundhara Lifetime Achievement Award.”
