Lamp lighting for 30 nursing cadets held

PUNE: Lamp lighting ceremony of 30 nursing cadets of 54th Batch of College of Nursing, Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC), Pune, was held on Saturday at Bharadwaja Auditorium.

Senior Officers, MNS Officers, retired officers, representatives from various civil colleges of nursing, faculty members, trainee officers and students of CON, AFMC were present during the ceremony. 

The chief guest felicitated the meritorious students who were awarded the Lt Gen K S Masters Memorial Silver Medal and Rashi Memorial Silver Medal for academic excellence.

Maj Shobhana N was awarded Silver Jubilee Rolling Trophy and Brig Shukla Trust Award for the all-round best as well as best outgoing PBBSc (N) trainee officer. She also received Lt Col SD Kale Silver Medal for securing first position in Maharashtra University of Health Sciences PBBSc (N) exam held in 2018 and 2019.

Parents of the nursing cadets attended the event. 

Maj Gen Rajiv Mohan Gupta, Offg Director and Commandant, AFMC graced the occasion as Chief Guest. Brig SG Alyemma, Brig MNS Southern Command was guest of honour.

Brig Amita Devrani, Principal, CON, Armed Forces Medical College  presented brief report of the college.

She passed the light to faculty members which in turn was passed to the nursing cadets. Passing of light symbolises the dissemination of knowledge, skill, wisdom, dedication and dignity from the learned to the learners, from the teachers to the taught.
