Lohagad Fort Tragedy: Pune Man Dies After Falling Into Gorge Days Before Wedding

25-year-old Ketan Agarwal, son of a prominent builder, slipped near a cliff edge while visiting Lohagad Fort with his fiancée.

Pune, 19th June 2026: A 25-year-old man died after falling from Lohagad Fort in Maval taluka on Thursday, casting a shadow over what was supposed to be a joyous time for his family. The deceased has been identified as Ketan Agarwal from Pune, a resident of Gahunje and son of noted builder Vishal Agarwal.

According to police, Ketan had visited the historic fort along with his fiancée on Thursday morning. While walking near a cliff on the southern side of the fort, he reportedly lost his footing and plunged into a deep gorge. He suffered fatal injuries and died on the spot.

The tragedy comes just days before Ketan’s wedding. Preparations for the ceremony were already underway, with flight tickets booked for Jaipur and arrangements made at a palace venue for the celebrations.

After receiving information about the incident, teams from Lonavala Rural Police, Shivdurg Mitra Lonavala, and members of the Vanyajeev Rakshak Maval organisation rushed to the spot and carried out rescue and recovery operations.

The sudden loss has left the family, relatives, and friends in shock, turning a time of celebration into one of grief.
