PUNE: Mahavitaran will begin centralised payments through its ERP System from May 1 to promote digital transactions and move towards a cashless economy.

Mahavitaran will implement this system to bring more transparency in the payment system and to speed up the process. In this system, payment of liabilities booked by field offices across Maharashtra will be paid centrally from the head office in the payer’s account.

“At present, Mahavitaran does all its payments through the electronic medium. This results in a slight delay. The centralised payments will be done through the SAP system to avoid these delays in monetary transactions, expedite the payment system and make it more transparent,” said an official from MSEDCL’s Pune circle 

In this system, approximately 20,000 transactions will be done every month. Approximately 5,000 to 6,000 transactions per month pertaining to non-conventional power purchase are already being done through this system and approximately 75,000 to 80,000 transactions per month pertaining to employees will be made through this system soon.

To take the benefit of this system, a contractor must register at the divisional office of Mahavitaran. For this, it is mandatory for vendors and contractors to give their vendor number, mobile number and email address, along with bank details.

Apart from this, to reduce the cash payments, Mahavitaran employees in the State will be given pre-paid cards to meet their day to day expenses. Approximately 2,000 cards will be issued and distributed across Maharashtra to meet administrative expenses.
