PUNE: A digital move taken by the Department of Registration and Stamps will now help people going for registration of marriage register online. A person has to register himself 30 days prior with the marriage registration office. Earlier, a person had to visit the sub-registrar’s office to get his marriage registered. The Stamps and Registration Department has launched a dedicated portal https://mregigr.maharashtra.gov.in/MarriageEntry/frmhomepage.aspx to minimise visits to the government office.
State Inspector General of Registration and Stamps (IGR) Anil Kawade said people were facing problems of middlemen bothering them during registration of their marriage. “Now, the bride and groom can register online through the portal. They can submit their Aadhaar details, photos, documents, fingerprints and then reach the sub-registrar office after 30 days for their marriage registration process,” added Kawade.
As per officials of Department of Registration and Stamps, over 4 lakh marriages take place annually in the State and only 30,000 people go for registration of the marriage. In Pune, around 5,500 people registered their marriage at the department. “The would-be bride or groom who has registered at the site will be updated through messages on the mobile phone,” added Kawade.
PORTAL TO CALCULATE STAMP DUTY
Now, to calculate stamp duty charges of a particular property, the Department of Registration and Stamps has provided an online platform for users. This will help users to calculate the stamp duty charges of the property they are planning to buy. The portal currently helps people to calculate stamp duty charges of properties in Mumbai and will soon be available for calculating stamp duty charges across the State.
State Inspector General of Registration and Stamps (IGR) Anil Kawade said that a person needs to login with his mobile number and full details of the property including location, area and other details of the property and the portal will display the stamp duty amount. “With the help of the portal, people need not visit the sub-registrar office to calculate the stamp duty charges on the property,” added Kawde.
