Pune, 12th May 2026: A massive fire broke out on Monday (11 May) evening at a terrace flat located on the 10th floor of the Sky Lounge building in Pune’s Kalyani Nagar area.

The incident caused heavy damage to household belongings, including electronic appliances and furniture, but no injuries were reported.

According to fire brigade officials, the fire started around 5:45 pm when thick smoke was seen coming out of the terrace apartment. Strong winds and flammable materials inside the flat caused the flames to spread rapidly, creating panic among residents in the building.

However, all residents managed to evacuate safely soon after the fire broke out, preventing any major tragedy. Upon receiving the alert, two fire engines rushed to the spot and immediately began firefighting operations.

The rescue operation was led by Yerawada Fire Station in-charge Sanjay Jadhav and B.T. Kavade Road Fire Station officer Nilesh Lonkar along with their teams. After intense efforts, firefighters successfully brought the blaze under control within a short time and stopped it from spreading to nearby apartments.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the fire may have been caused by a short circuit. Authorities are further examining the exact cause of the incident.
