Moderate rain in city today, predicts IMD

PUNE: Pune city experienced hot weather during the day and moderate rains at night followed by thunderstorms and lightning on Tuesday night. Same events continued on Wednesday also, as it was hot during the day and there was rainfall in the evening. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), thundery activity along with moderate rains (up to 64.5 mm) are predicted on Thursday by IMD.

From 8.30 pm on Tuesday to 8.30 am on Wednesday, Shivajinagar reported 10.2 mm rainfall, Pashan recorded 50.3 mm and Lohegaon reported 66.2 mm rainfall.

As per the IMD, isolated places in Central Maharashtra will receive heavy rainfall. Also, some parts of Konkan and Goa and Central Maharashtra will receive thunderstorm and lightning along with rains on Thursday. 

MONSOON WITHDRAWAL
The Southwest Monsoon has been vigorous over Gangetic West Bengal and active over Jharkhand, Konkan and Goa and interior Karnataka on Wednesday. 

As per the IMD, the Southwest Monsoon has withdrawn from some parts of Punjab, Haryana and north Rajasthan on Wednesday against the normal date of September 1. The conditions are becoming favourable for further withdrawal of Southwest Monsoon from more parts of northwest India till October 11 and from remaining India till October 12.
