Pune 16 June 2025: With the arrival of refreshing monsoon showers, Sinhagad Fort turned into a lush green paradise over the weekend, attracting an unprecedented number of tourists. For two consecutive days, Saturday and Sunday, thousands of families visited the fort to soak in nature’s beauty before schools reopened on Monday.

A total of more than 15,000 tourists visited Sinhagad on June 14 and 15. Of these, around 10,500 visitors reached the fort riding 2,504 two-wheelers and 900 four-wheelers, while approximately 5,000 tourists arrived by private passenger transport vehicles.

During these two days, authorities collected ₹2,16,700 as activity fees from vehicle owners. This amount has been directly deposited into the bank account of the Ghera Sinhagad Forest Conservation Committee. The collected funds will be used for fort cleaning, tree plantation, water body maintenance, trail protection, and biodiversity conservation.

To maintain discipline at the tourist spot, security guards strictly monitored visitors for violations. Two drivers were caught trying to carry liquor to the fort and were fined on the spot. The fine amount was also added to the conservation fund.

Heavy tourist inflow led to significant traffic congestion on Sunday, especially at Sinhagad Ghat. In the final three kilometers, many visitors parked along the roadside and trekked up to the fort. Long queues of vehicles were seen near Kondhanpur junction. With the monsoon turning the surrounding areas of Panshet, Khadakwasla, and Sinhagad into scenic retreats, the fort has once again emerged as a favorite weekend getaway for Pune’s nature lovers.
