Pune, 27 January 2026: The Pune Municipal Corporation’s Mula–Mutha riverfront development project is progressing with major work nearing completion in the first phase. Around 90% of this work has now been completed.
The Mula–Mutha River flows for around 44 km through Pune city, and in the initial phase, riverfront development has been undertaken on a 3.7 km stretch between Sangamwadi and Bund Garden.
The 1.5 km riverfront stretch at Sangamwadi has been fully developed. On January 26, 2026, Municipal Commissioner Naval Kishore Ram, along with Additional Commissioners Prithviraj B.P., Pavanit Kaur, Omprakash Divte, and City Engineer Prashant Waghmare, inspected the site and carried out a tree plantation drive.
Under this project, theme parks, walking paths, cycling tracks, and various civic facilities are being developed along the riverbank to improve public spaces and promote recreational activities.
The completed 1.5 km track will be officially opened to citizens on February 15, 2026, to mark the Pune Municipal Corporation’s foundation day. The riverfront will be accessible to the public from 6 am to 9 am and from 5 pm to 8 pm.
The civic body plans to complete nearly 5 km of riverfront development between Sangamwadi and Kalyaninagar by the end of March 2026. The formal inauguration of the remaining stretch will be held soon in the presence of elected representatives and senior ministers.
