According to a statement by Defence PRO, the incident occurred around 5 pm during a supervised session for weak swimmers. Cadet Yadav, a member of Bravo Squadron from the 154th course who joined in July this year, was found unresponsive in the pool.

Lifeguards immediately pulled him out, and instructors administered CPR and other medical aid before rushing him to the Military Hospital in Khadakwasla. Despite all efforts, he could not be saved.

Cadet Yadav is from Katra Par in Muzaffarpur, Bihar. The academy has expressed its condolences to his family and confirmed that both the Pune City Police and his next of kin have been informed. A formal inquiry is now underway to determine the exact cause of the tragedy. His body has been sent for post-mortem examination.

This is the second fatality at the NDA in 15 days. Earlier this month, another first-term cadet, 18-year-old Antriksh Kumar Singh from Lucknow, was found dead in his hostel room in a suspected case of suicide.
