According to police, the civic poll results were declared on Friday, January 16. NCP candidate Suraj Lokhande won from the Janata Vasahat area. Later that evening, around 7.30 pm, a victory procession was taken out in the locality.

Police said the procession was organised without prior approval, in violation of official orders issued by the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Branch), which prohibited victory rallies after the election results.

Based on a complaint filed by a police constable, a case has been registered at Parvati Police Station. Further investigation is underway.

Police have reiterated that strict action will be taken against anyone violating orders issued to maintain law and order during the post-election period.
