Palkhi in Pune Today: Roads to Be Closed in Phases; Police Share Live Route Tracking Link

Commuters are advised to plan their travel in advance as traffic restrictions will be implemented in three phases across Pune on Thursday for the arrival of the Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj and Sant Tukaram Maharaj Palkhi processions.

Pune, 9th July 2026: City will witness extensive traffic restrictions today as the Ashadhi Wari processions of Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj Palkhi and Jagadguru Sant Tukaram Maharaj Palkhi arrive in the city.

To ensure the smooth movement of the Palkhis and the safety of devotees, Pune Traffic Police will shut roads along the procession route in three phases throughout the day.

Phase 1: Early Morning to Evening

The first phase of road closures will remain in force from 3 am to 5 pm. Traffic will be restricted on routes passing through Bopkhel Phata, Kalas, Vishrantwadi, Phulenagar, Alandi Road Junction, Chandrama Chowk, Sadalbaba Chowk, Sangamwadi Road, Wakdewadi, Khadki and Patil Estate Chowk.

Phase 2: Afternoon Restrictions

The second phase will begin at 12 noon and continue until 6 pm. During this period, traffic movement will be suspended on Ganeshkhind Road, Fergusson College Road (Gopal Krishna Gokhale Road), Jangli Maharaj Road and Karve Road.

Phase 3: Old City Road Closures

From 5 pm onwards, traffic restrictions will be imposed in Pune's old city areas, including Chhatrapati Shivaji Road, Bajirao Road, Laxmi Road and adjoining Peth localities, where the Palkhi processions will pass.

Pune Traffic Police have appealed to commuters to plan their journeys in advance and avoid travelling through the Palkhi route during the restriction hours to minimise inconvenience. Alternative routes should be used wherever possible.
