PCMC zonal offices to be named after forts

Sakal Times

Pimpri: The eight zonal offices of the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) will be named after the historical forts of Maharashtra.

The proposal for the same was approved at a recently held General Body meeting of the PCMC.  According to the plan, the ‘A’ zonal office will be named as Panhalgad. Similarly ‘B’, ‘C’, ‘D’, ‘E’,’F’, ‘G’, ‘H’ offices will be Purandar,  Sinhgad,  Raigad, Shivneri, Devagiri, Sindhudurg and Pratapgad respectively.

In 1997, the first four ward offices were set up in the PCMC. In 2012, then civic chief Dr Shikar Pardeshi created two more ward offices for decentralisation of work. In February 2017, during the last municipal elections, the four-member panel system was implemented. Accordingly, 32 election panels were formed and eight zonal offices were created for smooth functioning of administrative work.

These eight zonal offices came into existence from August 9, 2017. These offices were named  ‘A’, ‘B’, ‘C’, ‘D’, ‘E’, ‘F’, ‘G’ and ‘H’ for administrative convenience.
