PUNE: The Animal Adoption and Rescue Team (AART) and The Orchid Hotel, Balewadi, organised an adoption camp for stray and rescued puppies and kittens on the occasion of Republic Day on Sunday.

Puppies (aged 2.5 months and above) and kittens (aged two months and above) were up for free adoption at the camp.

A veterinarian for the preliminary check of all animals was available at the camp that was inaugurated by renowned actress Anuja Sathe of ‘Bajirao Mastani’, ‘Blackmail’ and ‘Parmanu’ fame.

Around 35 puppies and nine kittens were adopted at the camp on Sunday. The adoption was finalised on approval by a counsellor.

“We want to keep finding homes for these puppies and kittens with these camps. So far, we have been successful in rescuing and finding homes for more than 1,200 pets through these camps,” said AART Founder Bharati Tambe.

“The moment we heard the concept, we were on board. This is an absolute act of kindness and we were elated to be a part of it,” said The Orchid Hotel General Manager Ayon Bhattacharya.

A special pet cake was baked and sponsored by Suprita Biswas for the event.
