PMAY Residents in Pune’s Vaiduwadi Demand Boundary Wall as Theft Concerns Rise

Pune Municipal Corporation neglect leaves Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana residents vulnerable to theft; officials have acknowledged the issue and assured that the pending work will be taken up

Pune, 12th June 2026: Residents of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) housing project at Vaiduwadi in Hadapsar have raised concerns over the incomplete boundary wall around their residential complex, claiming it has created serious security issues and enabled thefts within the premises.

The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) constructed 340 homes under the PMAY scheme and handed them over to beneficiaries in 2023. However, the boundary wall around the project was left unfinished at the time, with officials assuring residents that the remaining work would be completed soon. Nearly three years later, the wall is still incomplete.

According to residents, the lack of a protective boundary has allowed unauthorized individuals from nearby settlements to enter the complex freely. They allege that incidents such as fuel theft, theft of vehicle spare parts, and other unlawful activities have become increasingly common, leaving families feeling unsafe.

Residents say they have repeatedly approached PMC officials and even submitted complaints to the Municipal Commissioner, but no action has been taken so far.

They argue that the delay is unfair to families from economically weaker sections who were allotted homes under the government housing scheme.

“Despite repeated complaints, the administration has not addressed the issue. We have even approached the Municipal Commissioner, but no action has been taken. The boundary wall should be completed immediately and security measures strengthened to protect residents,” said Mohinder Kaur Arora, a resident of the housing society.

PMC Executive Engineer Vilas Nevale acknowledged that work on the boundary wall remains pending. “We have received complaints from residents regarding the inconvenience and security concerns caused by the incomplete boundary wall. We will coordinate with the Hadapsar-Manjari regional office and ensure that the remaining work is completed,” he said.
