Mumbai: Between the years 2014 and 2017, Prasad Lad, BJP candidate for the Legislative Council had a 65 per cent increase in his assets over the last few years. His assets increased from Rs 126.97 crore in 2014 to Rs 210.62 crore in 2017.
Lad has a housekeeping business and provides engineering services to corporate houses and government establishments.
In his affidavit submitted with his nomination, he declared movable assets of Rs 98.78 crore and immovable assets worth Rs 111.84 crore. This property is owned by himself, his wife Neeta and two kids. Most of the assets are divided equally with his wife.
According to his affidavit, there are no criminal cases pending against him or no any conviction in any case.
Lad’s family owns a plot at Sion, a commercial building and residential flats in Dadar, Matunga, Chembur and some other places.
The family also owns agricultural land in Pathardi (Ahmednagar), Erandwane (Pune). He pays Income tax of Rs 4.22 crore, while his wife pays Rs 1.84 crore per year.
Lad defected from the NCP and joined the BJP just 18 months ago. He contested the Assembly election from NCP in 2014 from Sion Koliwada constituency, where he lost. Then he contested the council election a from local body constituency as an independent candidate in December 2015, that also he lost.
