Pune, 3rd December 2025: In a major boost to Pune’s international travel network 'Air India Express’ launched direct flight service from Pune to Abu Dhabi. The service began on December 2 and will operate every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday at 9:10 pm, providing a long-awaited link between Pune and the Middle East.
The new route has been welcomed by thousands of professionals, students, entrepreneurs, and workers who regularly travel to Gulf countries. With this addition, Pune Airport now connects internationally to four destinations, marking another important milestone in the city’s growing aviation footprint.
Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation, Murlidhar Mohol, said the start of the Pune–Abu Dhabi flight underlines the city’s rising international relevance. He noted that the route will create new opportunities in travel, trade, tourism, investment, and jobs.
Mohol added that the central government has accelerated airport development under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and he will continue to push for the overall expansion of Pune Airport.
Pune’s growing IT sector, major educational institutions, expanding manufacturing and startup ecosystem, research facilities, defence establishments, and strong cultural identity have all increased the city’s demand for direct international routes.
For several years, citizens and business groups had been requesting direct flights to Abu Dhabi to support economic and industrial growth.
The launch of this service is expected to make travel smoother and open doors for wider global engagement. Enhanced connectivity will help Pune strengthen its presence in international markets and create new avenues for economic exchange across the Middle East and beyond.
