The palanquins of Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj and Sant Tukaram Maharaj are scheduled to arrive in Pune on July 9. Lakhs of devotees are expected to stay in the city before and during the pilgrimage, making it essential for authorities to provide proper roads, drinking water, sanitation, healthcare and other basic facilities.

Mohol reviewed preparations during an inspection meeting attended by officials from the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), police, water supply, drainage, health, electricity and solid waste management departments.

Public representatives, including Mayor Manjusha Nagpure, Standing Committee Chairman Shrinath Bhimale, MLA Hemant Rasane and Municipal Commissioner Naval Kishore Ram, were also present.

The review covered disaster management centers under the Yerawada-Kalas-Dhanori, Aundh-Baner, Bhawani Peth and Hadapsar regional offices. Officials were instructed to ensure the safety of halt locations, improve water supply and sanitation facilities, provide healthcare services and complete all pending civic works along the Palakhi route.

Considering the monsoon season, authorities have been ordered to carry out immediate cleaning of drains, stormwater channels, chambers and culverts. Dangerous chambers will be secured with iron grills, potholes will be repaired and encroachments removed to ensure the safety of devotees.

Officials were also directed to maintain uninterrupted electricity supply and adequate lighting along the entire route. Police have been asked to prepare a special traffic management plan and remove abandoned vehicles and other obstructions to prevent congestion.

The administration is also making arrangements for round-the-clock cleanliness and waste management services, safe drinking water facilities, mobile toilets, rest areas, mobile medical units and emergency healthcare support.

Public toilets will be repaired, tree branches along the route will be trimmed and all departments have been instructed to work in close coordination to ensure a smooth and safe Wari for devotees.
