The incident occurred around 3.37 am when the victim, Prasad Dilip Misal (26), was standing near Ira Coffee with his bike after completing a delivery. A speeding Hyundai Creta hit him from behind, knocking him down and running over his chest, according to eyewitness accounts. The impact caused serious crushing injuries.

Misal was rushed to Sahyadri Hospital, where doctors confirmed multiple critical injuries. Due to the high cost of treatment, his family later shifted him to Sassoon General Hospital, where he is currently undergoing treatment in the ICU. Misal is the sole earning member of his family.

The accused driver has been identified as Tejas Babulal Chaudhary (32), a resident of Bavdhan. Police said Chaudhary appeared intoxicated at the scene and smelled strongly of alcohol. He was taken into custody and sent for a medical examination, which confirmed that he was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident.

A complaint was filed by Misal’s cousin, Omkar Ram Hatkar (24), who told police that Misal managed to call him moments after the crash seeking help. Both the car and the victim’s bike were damaged in the collision.

Bavdhan Police have registered a case against the accused under sections related to rash and negligent driving under intoxication, causing grievous hurt and property damage. Police said further investigation is underway and strict action will be taken.
