Pune: CID to Probe Woman’s Death During Police Raid at Viman Nagar Spa Centre

Family demands thorough investigation after fatal jump amid crackdown on prostitution racket

Pune, 25 February 2026: The investigation into the death of a young woman who allegedly jumped from a building during a police raid at a spa centre in Viman Nagar has been handed over to the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID).

The incident occurred at a building in the Viman Nagar area where a spa centre was reportedly operating under the guise of wellness services while allegedly running a prostitution racket.

Acting on specific information, a team from Airport Police Station led by Senior Police Inspector Govind Jadhav conducted a raid at the premises.

As the police team entered the building, the woman and the spa manager allegedly panicked and jumped from the second floor. The woman sustained severe injuries and later succumbed, while the manager suffered a leg injury.

Following the incident, the woman’s relatives met Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar and demanded a comprehensive probe into the circumstances leading to her death.

On Tuesday, a CID team visited the building in Viman Nagar to inspect the site. Officials are expected to record statements of the concerned individuals and examine all aspects of the case as part of the ongoing investigation.

Authorities have stated that the CID will conduct a detailed inquiry to ascertain the exact sequence of events and determine accountability in the matter.
