The deceased has been identified as Atul Laxman Ahire, a resident of Papde Vasti in Fursungi. According to police, a complaint was lodged by Ahire’s brother at Fursungi Police Station, following which a case of abetment to suicide has been registered against two individuals.

Police said the accused had allegedly accused Ahire of theft, verbally abused him and assaulted him. The repeated allegations and humiliation reportedly caused severe mental stress.

"Under mental pressure due to the theft accusation, Atul jumped in front of a moving train on the Pune-Kolhapur railway line in Fursungi around midnight on February 23," police said.

Assistant Police Inspector Nanasaheb Jadhav is conducting further investigation into the case.
