Pune District Milk Federation has increased the procurement price of cow milk by ₹1 per litre, effective midnight of July 31.
The revised rate is ₹33 per litre for farmers; selling price for consumers remains unchanged.
The move aims to support dairy farmers facing high costs, without burdening consumers.
Pune, 1st August 2025: In a bid to support dairy farmers affected by rising fuel prices, costlier cattle feed, and declining milk production, the Pune District Cooperative Milk Producers Federation has decided to raise the cow milk procurement price by ₹1 per litre. The new rates come into effect from midnight of July 31.
Starting August 1, 2025, the federation will pay ₹33 per litre for cow milk with 3.5% fat and 8.5% SNF (solids-not-fat) to individual farmers. For affiliated societies, the rate including overheads will be ₹33.80 per litre.
Though this hike will increase the federation’s financial burden, it has chosen not to raise consumer prices. This decision ensures that while farmers benefit from improved rates, buyers won’t face an additional cost.
The federation has urged farmers to supply clean, fresh, unadulterated, and high-quality milk to sustain this model and continue improving overall milk standards in the region.
