Pune, 30th July 2026: A major road accident took place near Sangamwadi Parking No. 3 on Thursday when a speeding Toyota car lost control and rammed into a large roadside tree. The impact was so powerful that the tree was uprooted and collapsed onto the footpath, while the vehicle suffered extensive damage.
According to officials, the white Toyota (MH12 YH 5569) veered off the road before crashing into the tree. Local residents and passing motorists immediately rushed to the scene and managed to rescue one of the occupants from the damaged vehicle before emergency teams arrived.
The driver remained trapped inside the car after his leg got stuck between the steering assembly and the vehicle's door. Firefighters from the Yerawada and Kasba fire stations launched a rescue operation using manual spreaders and ropes.
After carefully freeing the trapped leg, the rescue team safely extricated the driver and handed him over to the police for further medical assistance.
Police said both occupants of the car were allegedly under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident. The vehicle was completely damaged in the crash, and further investigation into the incident is in progress.
