Pune: Drunken Son Sets Father on Father After Argument; Man Dies During Treatment

Shocking incident reported in Parvati area as police arrest accused Sagar Bhalerao, and registered a case; investigation underway

Pune, 13 February 2026: A shocking incident has been reported from Pune where a son allegedly set his own father on fire following an argument at their home. The incident took place within the jurisdiction of the Parvati Police Station.

According to police information, the deceased has been identified as Ravindra Bhalerao, who worked as a carpenter and supported his family through his daily labour.

His son, Sagar Bhalerao, was reportedly addicted to alcohol and often got into disputes with his father after returning home drunk.

Police said that on February 7, during one such argument, Sagar allegedly poured petrol on his father and set him on fire in a fit of rage. Ravindra Bhalerao sustained severe burn injuries and was rushed to Sassoon General Hospital for treatment.

Despite medical efforts, he succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment. Following the incident, Parvati Police arrested the accused son and registered a criminal case against him.

“Parvati police are carrying out further investigation in the case,” officials said.
