Pune, 25th August 2026: A 30-year-old man was injured in a firing incident following a domestic dispute in Kasba Peth on Monday morning. The incident took place around 11 am in a building near the old Kalbhairav Temple. The injured man has been identified as Abhijit Shankar Shingote, who runs a mobile phone repair shop.
According to the police, Shingote had an argument with his wife at their home shortly before the firing. The couple were reportedly the only two people present inside the house at the time.
Shingote sustained a gunshot wound near his shoulder and was taken to a hospital for treatment. Doctors have said that his condition is stable.
Police reached the spot after receiving information about the firing. However, Shingote and his wife were not present when officers arrived. Police later learned that both had gone to a hospital.
During an inspection of the premises, police found blood stains and recovered a pistol and a cartridge. The weapon has been taken into custody for further investigation.
Police are investigating who used the pistol, where the weapon came from and who owns it. They are also trying to establish how Shingote sustained the gunshot injury and what exactly happened inside the house.
CCTV footage from the area is being examined and other evidence from the scene has been collected. Police are also gathering information about the couple as part of the investigation
Senior Police Inspector Sandeep Deshmane of Faraskhana Police Station said the initial investigation indicates that the incident followed a domestic dispute. He said the couple were alone at home when the firing took place and that Shingote sustained an injury near his shoulder. His condition is stable.
The exact circumstances and reason for the firing will be established after the police investigation is completed.
