The rainfall recorded at Shivajinagar is particularly significant as it is the fourth-highest 24-hour rainfall ever recorded in July since observations began. IMD data shows that only three July rainfall events have been higher than this in the city's history.

The highest 24-hour July rainfall recorded at Shivajinagar remains 130.4 mm in 1958, followed by 117.9 mm in 1967 and 114.1 mm in 2024. The 108.4 mm recorded this year now ranks fourth on the list of the city's highest 24-hour July rainfall events.

The rain was even more intense in neighbouring Pimpri-Chinchwad, where Chinchwad recorded an extreme 206 mm rainfall in the last 24 hours, according to IMD. The heavy downpour led to widespread waterlogging, disrupted traffic and affected normal life across several parts of the Pune metropolitan region.

With heavy rainfall continuing across Pune district and the surrounding ghat areas, authorities have advised residents to remain cautious, avoid unnecessary travel and stay updated with official weather advisories as more rain is expected over the next few days.
