Pune, 27 April 2026: A ragging incident has been reported at the boys hostel of Indian Law Society's (ILS) Law College, where a second-year LLB student allegedly faced harassment from fellow students. The case has raised concern within the academic community.

Based on the complaint, Deccan Police Station have registered a case against five second-year law students under the Maharashtra Prohibition of Ragging Act. The FIR was filed after a preliminary inquiry into the allegations.

The complainant, a 35-year-old student residing in the hostel, stated that he was subjected to verbal abuse and mental harassment by the accused, who were staying in the same hostel. He had earlier submitted a written complaint to the police regarding the issue.

Police officials said the complaint was examined before taking legal action under Sections 3 and 4 of the anti-ragging law. The incident is now under further investigation.

The student had also approached the college administration with his concerns. Police have indicated that they will review what action, if any, was taken by the institution in response to the complaint.
