Pune, 4th August 2026: A 33-year-old IT engineer allegedly died by suicide after jumping from the 15th floor of a residential tower in Amanora Township, Hadapsar, around midnight on Saturday. Police suspect prolonged family disputes and stress caused by ongoing divorce proceedings may have driven him to take the extreme step.
The deceased has been identified as Rahul Vedabhyas Patel (33), a native of Odisha. He was living on rent in an apartment on the 15th floor of Amanora Gold Tower and was employed with a Pune-based IT company.
According to Hadapsar Police, Rahul and his wife had been facing frequent domestic disputes for several days. The differences had reportedly escalated, and the couple was in the process of seeking a divorce. Investigators believe he had been under considerable mental stress because of the family issues.
Senior Police Inspector Hemant Patil said the preliminary investigation indicates that ongoing domestic disputes and divorce-related stress may have played a role in the incident. However, the exact circumstances are being investigated.
Police said Rahul allegedly jumped from the balcony of his apartment around midnight. He sustained severe injuries and died at the spot.
After receiving information, Hadapsar Police reached the society, conducted a spot panchnama, and sent the body to a government hospital for post-mortem examination. Rahul's family in Odisha has been informed, and his father is travelling to Pune.
Residents alerted police after hearing a loud noise and identifying the victim. When officers reached Rahul's apartment, they were unable to enter immediately because it was secured with a digital lock.
Police later contacted Rahul's wife to obtain the access code, allowing them to enter the flat and begin collecting evidence. An Accidental Death Report (ADR) has been registered, and further investigation is in progress.
