Pune, 26th August 2026: The Khadakwasla-Hadapsar-Kharadi Metro expansion project is moving ahead with survey and route-planning work currently underway. Pune Metro officials said efforts are being made to start the project work at the earliest.
Officials Sonu Chaudhary, Shashi Bhushan and others met residents at Kolhewadi to explain the proposed route and address their concerns. The officials said Kolhewadi is currently proposed as the starting station.
Residents have opposed the proposed location at Kolhewadi and demanded that the main station and car shed be built beyond the gas shed at Khadakwasla.
Residents and local representatives said, “A station and car shed at Khadakwasla would benefit local residents as well as tourists and could give a boost to tourism in the area.”
Metro officials gave a positive response and said the demand would be conveyed to senior officials for consideration.
Councillor Dhanashree Kolhe and councillor Subhash Nanekar also demanded a flyover between Kolhewadi and Nanded Phata along the Metro pillars, similar to the flyover at Nal Stop Chowk. They said, “The flyover would help reduce traffic congestion in Nanded, Kirkatwadi, Nandoshi and Kolhewadi.”
The meeting was attended by local representatives, including Dhanashree Kolhe, Subhash Nanekar, Dattatray Kolhe, Vijay Mate, Ashok Mate, Ramesh Gaikwad, former sarpanch Vijay Kolhe, Ajay Kolhe and Anand Mate, along with residents.
