According to initial reports, Dimble had finished his duty and stopped briefly in Kondhwa for a personal reason when he noticed a group drinking in public. He intervened to ask them to move, which led to a verbal confrontation. Soon, the men were joined by friends, and the officer was physically attacked.

Despite wearing his uniform jacket, which concealed his identity, Dimble suffered injuries with bleeding from his ear and nose. He was immediately admitted to Sasoon Hospital, where doctors have confirmed that his condition is stable.
