Pune, 1st July 2026: Rural Police are intensifying their investigation into the alleged murder of Ketan Agarwal, carrying out separate scene reconstruction exercises at Lohagad Fort with both accused individuals.
On June 28, Siya Goyal was taken to Lohagad Fort before dawn for a detailed crime scene recreation. The exercise lasted nearly three hours, during which investigators traced the movements of the group from the parking area to the cliff edge where Agarwal fell on June 18.
A fibre dummy was used to represent the victim, and the fort was temporarily closed to visitors during the process.
Following this, today, police also took Chetan Chaudhary to the fort as part of the ongoing probe. Officials to examine the location and retrace movements relevant to the case, preparing documentation and observations to support the investigation. His gait analysis is expected to be conducted as part of further forensic examination.
According to investigators, these exercises are aimed at verifying the statements of both accused and matching them with CCTV footage, digital records, and other evidence collected so far. Police suspect that Goyal allegedly gave a pre-decided signal by sitting down, after which Chaudhary allegedly pushed Agarwal off the cliff while she remained out of reach.
The case was initially treated as an accidental fall. However, Agarwal’s family raised doubts, citing his trekking experience, prompting a deeper investigation. Contradictions in the statements of Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary, along with supporting digital and physical evidence, led to their arrest on June 23.
Investigators believe that the separate scene reconstructions will help establish a clearer sequence of events as they move towards filing the chargesheet.
