Pune: Man held for killing wife’s former lover

Pune: A 24-year-old man was arrested by Pune Police on Monday for killing his wife’s ex-boyfriend suspecting an affair. The incident took place at Sangvi on Sunday. A case of murder has been registered at Sangvi police station. The police have identified the deceased as Saurabh Venkat Jadhav (28), a resident of Sanjay Nagar, Aundh. In this regard, the police have identified the suspect Ayaz Sheikh, a resident of Shivajinagar, Pune and his friend Sonya Barate.

The incident came to light, after the deceased brother Sushant Venkat Jadhav (24), a resident of Sanjaynagar, Aundh lodged a complaint at Sangvi Police Station which falls under the jurisdiction of Pimpri Chinchwad police commissionerate.

According to police officials, "Ayaz suspected that his wife was in a relationship prior to marriage with deceased Saurabh. Ayaz called Saurabh to clear the issue. Ayaz along with his friend Sonya hatched a plan to kill him.”

“The duo called deceased near their house to discuss some issue, both got into a heated argument over college day love affairs which led to a fight. Ayaz was carrying sharp-edged weapons with it he started stabbing Saurabh. When they found Saurabh in a pool of blood they ran away. Based on our investigation and intelligence inputs we cracked the case and arrested the suspects on Monday night,” the officials added.
