The Line 3 metro route will connect Mann, Hinjawadi, and Shivajinagar over a total distance of 23.3 kilometers, with 23 stations planned along the corridor. This metro line is being built under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model, led by Pune IT City Metro Rail Limited, a consortium of Tata and Siemens, in collaboration with PMRDA. Construction began on November 25, 2021, and is scheduled for completion by March 2026.

Metro Line 3 will integrate with the existing MahaMetro network to form a seamless system across the city. The project is aimed at addressing the growing transportation needs of Pune's expanding urban population by providing a fast and safe alternative to road travel. Four modern metro trains have already been delivered. Each train has three fully air-conditioned coaches with a total passenger capacity of around 1,000, capable of running at a speed of 80 km/h.

The successful test run between Mann Depot and PMR marks a key milestone in the project’s progress. Officials noted that the Pune Metro Line 3 is expected to be completed in record time and will play a crucial role in reducing traffic congestion, especially on the Hinjawadi-Shivajinagar route, which is known for heavy daily commuter traffic.
