Pune, 14 February 2026: Metro has opened additional entry gates at three major stations, Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC), Shivajinagar and Swargate, from Saturday, February 14, 2026, to improve passenger convenience and safety.
The decision comes in response to the growing number of daily commuters. With the new entry points, passengers can now access stations directly without crossing busy roads, helping reduce travel time and minimize safety risks.
At PCMC Metro Station, Entry Gate No. 3 has been constructed along the Pune-Mumbai Highway on the Mumbai-bound side. This new gate allows commuters from Pimpri and visitors to the PCMC headquarters to enter and exit the station without crossing the highway.
At Swargate Metro Station, Entry Gate No. 5 has been developed beside the MSRTC bus stand. An underground passage now directly connects the state transport depot to the metro station, enabling commuters to avoid heavy traffic near Jedhe Chowk.
Similarly, at Shivajinagar Metro Station, Entry Gate No. 3 has been opened near the Akashvani Centre at Shimla Office Chowk. The underground access provides direct connectivity for passengers travelling from Ganeshkhind Road and the Agricultural College area.
Maha Metro Managing Director Shravan Hardikar said, "The new entry gates have been introduced considering the increasing passenger footfall. These facilities will greatly benefit citizens travelling along major roads and will significantly enhance both convenience and safety."
