According to a press note issued by the Mayor’s Office on Monday, the Municipal Commissioner has directed immediate action after reports suggested that several Punekars, including tourists, students and business professionals, may be stuck in Iran and Israel due to the ongoing hostilities. The situation has caused growing anxiety among their families in Pune.

Considering the seriousness of the crisis, the civic administration has been instructed to act swiftly. A dedicated 24×7 helpline cell will be established at the PMC headquarters, and the contact number will be announced soon to provide round-the-clock support.

The administration will also prepare an official data bank of all Pune residents stranded in the conflict zone. Families have been asked to share important details such as the full name of the person, their current address abroad or hotel details, passport number and local contact information.

Officials said the data bank will help in proper coordination and further action. The collected information will be shared with the state government, the central government and the Ministry of External Affairs to support efforts for the safe return of affected citizens to India.

Emphasizing the urgency, officials stated that the administration has been directed to work on a 'war footing' to ensure timely assistance and coordinated action for the safety of Punekars caught in the conflict.
