Pune To New Press Club on Senapati Bapat Road After State Government Approval

State Cabinet approves 8,015 Square feet land allotment for Pune Patrakar Pratishthan to expand media and welfare activities

Pune, 8th December 2025: In a significant boost to media infrastructure in Pune, the Maharashtra State Cabinet has approved the allotment of around 8,015 square feet of land on Senapati Bapat Road for the Pune Patrakar Pratishthan to build a new Press Club.

The decision was taken during the Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, following a proposal initiated by Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule.

It has been allotted under provisions of the Maharashtra Land Revenue Code, 1966, and related government land disposal rules. The land will be given on commercial terms with Class-2 occupancy rights, subject to prescribed conditions and government valuation.

Once completed, the new Press Club will be a well-equipped and spacious facility aimed at supporting the growing needs of Pune’s journalism community. It will host training programmes, skill development sessions, health camps, medical check-ups, study tours, and other welfare initiatives for journalists and their families.

With the rapid growth of media organisations in Pune, the number of working journalists has increased significantly in recent years. The existing premises of the Pune Patrakar Pratishthan have become insufficient to handle daily activities and major events.

Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule said the organisation regularly hosts senior ministers, judges, bureaucrats, editors, and media professionals for lectures and discussions. He added that the new space will allow the institution to expand its welfare and professional development work more effectively and meet the rising demand from the media community.
